Halibut Seafood Chowder

  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 medium potatoes peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup sliced carrots
  • 1 cup sliced celery
  • 1 pound halibut cubed
  • 1 can chopped clams
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • garlic powder to taste
  • season salt, pepper
  • 1 cup white sauce
  • In a large pot cook chopped bacon with onion. Add  potatoes, carrots, celery and seasonings. Cover with enough water to cook potatoes. Add halibut and clams. While heating make white sauce. When white sauce is extra thick add to pot and stir carefully. Cook until desired thickness. Serve with hot muffins or garlic bread and salad.

    White sauce: melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine in sauce pan. Add 2 tablespoons of flour. Cook until bubbly with out burning. Add 1 cup milk and whisk until smooth and thick.
